Many thanks to everyone who voted in last edition’s poll. After chatting with my publisher I’m stoked to start work on Logo Design Love, edition three. Publishers typically expect 25 percent of the content to change with a new edition. I’m aiming for double, going in-depth on recent logo projects, bringing more exceptional contributors on board, talking about how designers (and clients) can benefit from developments in the profession, generally making the book a lot better than its decade-old predecessor.
Meanwhile, on the client front, I’ve just finished designing identity guidelines for Pürblack (who sell the natural shilajit health supplement), redesigned the logo for Quillette (an online magazine founded by Australian journalist Claire Lehmann), and created identity elements for La Copa 2026 — Mexico’s emerging answer to the Tour de France.
Currently in-progress with logos for DeepGarden (a California-based risk assessment tool for homeowners and city planners), and Rocktide (a new fragrance brand from Connemara, Ireland).
Grateful to be busy.
Some things I thought worth sharing this month.
More than 1,500 new fonts, including the most popular from the Monotype library (such as Avenir Next, Archer, Benton Modern, Gotham), are now available for Adobe subscribers. I’ve paired Benton Modern Display (headlines) with Avenir Next (body text) in a recent project. Looks the part.

Bond recently designed a logo for Saaristo, the archipelago of Finland. The letters in the design were intriguingly formed from the outlines of eight of the islands.
Creative Lives in Progress is an excellent careers resource from Will Hudson and Alex Bec. From the “guides” section are how to find clients as a freelancer and how to photograph your work for your portfolio. A great website for those entering the profession. Via Phil Garnham on LinkedIn.

Designers discuss having their work replaced. An interesting read over on Design Week. Simon Manchipp commented, “Frankly, without change we are all out of a job. So if a project we’ve worked on gets worked on by another firm, that’s to be expected — it’s part of the natural landscape.”

Studio Mast updated the mark for Dan Howell’s Siteinspire. Lovely. Mast’s other work is well worth a look, too.
deck.gallery is a selection of “beautifully designed decks, slides, keynotes, guidelines…” Curated by London–based product designer Muharrem Şenyıl, I found it handy for a recent project.

Raw Milk: The Lost Elixir of Life is an excellent short documentary by Jonas Westh.

Elsewhere, with some fine spring weather we brought the kids to Cave Hill for their first time. Awesome views from the grasslands above Belfast Castle.

Wow, the left font is spectacularly creative. Might need to use it one day... Cheers!
